What you get
The Student / Free Edition is a self-contained bundle intended for individual developers, students, and researchers who want to understand how Guardrail works without going through an enterprise procurement process.
- Core Guardrail API components suitable for local use
- Example configuration and starter policies
- Documentation links back to the main documentation and whitepaper
- Licensed for personal, academic, and non-commercial projects
Who it's for
This edition is meant for people who learn by building: students, indie developers, early-stage founders, researchers, and anyone who wants to see how an AI safety layer works in practice.
If you're evaluating Guardrail for a production or enterprise deployment, the paid plans add things like the Admin Console, multi-tenant controls, deeper observability, and supported integrations. The free edition is intentionally lighter weight so it's easy to download, unpack, and run on your own.
Community
If you'd like to share what you're building, ask questions, or see how other people are working with Guardrail, you can join the Guardrail Labs community on Discord. It's an informal space for students, builders, and researchers who are experimenting with AI safety and the Guardrail API.

The Student / Free Edition is provided as-is, with no uptime or support guarantees. It is intended for personal, academic, and non-commercial use. If you're unsure whether your use case qualifies, reach out and we can talk through it.
If you move from a student project into something that needs to ship to customers or handle sensitive data, we recommend moving to a paid plan so you can get the full feature set and support that go with a production environment.
